How do your ID checks work?

Our ID checks were built to meet the Government’s Good Practice Guide 45 which clearly states best practices for establishing someone’s identity is both real and belongs to them. There are five steps the government guidance recommends you should take when verifying a customer’s identity. The guidance, makes it’s clear that confirming the identity exists alone isn’t sufficient. You need to tie the person to the claimed identity.

Our software helps with each step, from biometric facial recognition that ties the individual to the submitted ID through to data checks that confirm the ID is genuine and has existed over time. Each of these steps help to build a clearer picture of the individual increasing the confidence they are who they say they are.

Verified ID checks in four simple steps

Our ID checking is as simple as send, snap, scan and submit. That’s it. We remove outdated processes such as uploading utility bills or bank statement as proof of address, replacing them with data enrichment from authoritative sources such as the electoral roll or credit bureaus.


What types of documents can you check?
Our software is able to extract data from official ID documents from all around the world using either NFC to read biometric passports/cards or through machine reading. We run a range of checks to ensure to the document hasn’t been tampered with, check security features and that the document in the persons possession at the time (its not a digital image).

Why do I need to do an ID check?
Many businesses fall under AML supervision and are required to verify their customer’s claimed identity to ensure they are not working with known criminals and sanctioned individuals. Also as part of Right to Work legislation, the Home Office also requires businesses to verify candidates’ IDs before employment to prevent illegal working in the UK.

How big of a problem is ID fraud?
Over the last few years, there has been a significant shift in the way we do business. More and more transactions are completed remotely or with minimal face-to-face contact. Cases of fraud have increased dramatically with over 309,000 cases reported to the National Fraud Database in the first nine months of 2022, a 17% compared to the previous year. This was driven mainly by a 34% increase in ID fraud with criminals targeting businesses who processes lack sufficient due diligence processes.
